The Healy/Ford Award is given to students who demonstrate financial need and excellence in performance. This event is held in memory of Helen Healy and Helen Parker Ford, both devoted teachers and longtime members of NVMTA who served our community in a myriad of ways. Helen Healy was NVMTA’s president from 1976 to 1979. Helen Parker Ford, an active member of the organization into her nineties, was in particular a proponent of strong sight-reading skills among piano students.
