The Unitarian Universalist Church of Arlington (UUCA) is immediately seeking an Interim Music Director or
Music Coordinator to support music on Sunday mornings.
The hours and pay scale for this position varies based on the duties assumed, which could include:
• Identify and invite musical guests, utilizing our list of potential guests and your own connections in the
musical world of the DC area.
• Ensure coordination between musical guests and UUCA staff. Provide information for the order of
services; ensure the guests have all necessary sheet music and hymns; are welcomed and oriented to
the service; and that the Administrator has the correct information to compensate guests.
• Provide music on some Sunday mornings, including accompaniment and/or solo performances. Work
with the worship leader to select music.
• Direct the approximately 30-person choir at their Thursday evening rehearsals and in Sunday service
once per month. Work with the worship leader to select music for the choir.
We anticipate needing an Interim Music Director from February 1 through May 31, 2023, and perhaps into the
summer.
Serving in this Interim role does not preclude you from applying for a Director of Music position at UUCA in
the future.
Hours and Pay Scale
This position—depending on duties assumed—might range from 10 hours to 25 hours per week. As a
temporary position, salary is calculated hourly, and the position does not include benefits. The hourly rate,
which is based on duties assumed and experience brought to the position, ranges from $25/hour to $40/hour.
It could be possible to divide duties between two different people/positions.
UUCA is an Equal Opportunity Employer. As we seek to build a staff that represents the community around us,
we particularly encourage people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color to apply.
