Educational Theatre Company (ETC) is seeking part time Musical Directors for our Main Stage Residency program this winter and spring at Tuckahoe Elementary.  Please read the job description below for more information.

Job Description
ETC’s Main Stage program works with elementary students grades 2nd – 5th to create an original musical based on classic works of literature and drama.  During the rehearsal process students will work with the musical director to compose song lyrics and then rehearse for school and community performances.

The Musical Director is responsible for the following:

•Writing six original songs; four of which have lyrics created by the students

•Arranging music for the production (piano or guitar) and the cast

•Accompanying the production either on piano or guitar

•Making changes to the score when necessary

•Attending all rehearsals and rehearsing all 6 songs with the cast, as well as teaching proper vocal technique.

Position is open for Tuckahoe Elementary in Arlington, VA.

Rehearsals begin mid-January with performances in early April. Each rehearsal process lasts about 10 weeks, with rehearsals after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 – 7:30pm.

Additional rehearsals will be held on two Saturdays in March from 9:30am – 12:00pm.

Tech Week will have rehearsals Monday – Wednesday with the performances during the day and evening on Thursday and Friday, April 4th and 5th.  More information about specific dates can be given to interested parties.

Previous experience with musical directing and kids is ideal.  Pay commensurate with experience.
