How To Join the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association
Teachers of all instruments are invited to join NVMTA. We especially love to help new teachers get started in this exciting business. Locally, we offer:
- A teacher referral service that directs inquirers to local teachers accepting new students.
- Workshops on musical and pedagogical issues.
- Student competitions, festivals, recitals, music skills testing, and scholarship opportunities.
- MusicLink, with the twin goals of matching talented, but needy children with volunteer teachers (LessonLink) and gaining school credit for private study. (StudyLink)
Through our affiliations with state and national music organizations, you will have the opportunity to:
- Take part in annual state and national conventions.
- Receive regular issues of the American Music Teacher and Junior Keynotes magazines.
- Apply for National Certification.
- Take advantage of special group rates on disability, personal accident, medical, and instrument insurance.
To join:
- It's easy to join NVMTA through Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Go to the MTNA web site at www.mtna.org.
- Click on the link for becoming an MTNA member. You will be directed to choose your state.
